57% Of Women Would Trade In Their Boyfriends For A Face Of Makeup!

We’ve always known the price of beauty was high, but learning how much we makeup junkies could be spending on powder and blush leaves us flushed! According to a new study, the average woman drops $164,000 on makeup in her lifetime.

The British study found that women’s makeup drawers, on average, contain 54 different items worth around $833. The average woman’s on-the-go cosmetics bag contains over $200 worth of cosmetics.

Fifty six percent of the study’s participants said shelling out $30 for a designer mascara was no biggie. But maybe they’d take a fatter wallet over fatter lashes if they realized they’re dropping an average of $65 a week on beauty products.

The most disturbing stat of all: 57 percent of women say they would rather dump their boyfriend than go barefaced. This is really sad because we kind of feel like this speaks more to their relationships with guys than it does to their obsessions with makeup.

And as much as we love makeup (and trust us, we love makeup), just think of the other unhealthy obsessions you could indulge with $164,000: buy a few cars, take a couple (hundred) vacations, or start your collection of 1,200 pairs of shoes!

I get asked frequently how one can extend an afternoon summer look into an evening look without having to make any touch ups - the solution: what I call in the "in-betweener"! I went ahead and did the look on myself which involves a mixture of light and dark golds on the eye lid, frosted hints below the eye brow and inner eyes with a less dramatic smokey eye using either dark browns, maroons or greys. I used a black to incorporate the black maxi dress I was wearing! A glowing cheek with some bronzer adds some summer spritz! And to finish the look, a lightly lined lip with a neutral color and a touch of gloss! If it's a hot humid day, take a powder puff in your purse to dab any shine away as the evening draws closer! Happy summer days and evenings!

Some Updates

LHC Promakeup has been operating in the Virginia area for over a year now and is so thankful for the business and opportunities which have come by. The brides have been an absolute pleasure and the local salons - especially Meredith's Salon in Christiansburg - have been so supportive. We too have had the great opportunity in meeting some key photographers in the area which help our work look beautiful!

With all this, we have been able to obtain more beautiful images which will be put onto the website very soon. In the meantime, you can see them all being added to the LHC Promakeup Facebook page.

We have also been adding new and exciting products to our kit and have invested in new airbrushing products. In turn, keeping up to date with new and exciting techniques. It's an ever evolving industry which makes our job that much more thrilling!

My top choice for an eye primer

A Day of Make-up

I often get asked how long it takes everyday to do my make-up ritual and what products I use. However, it varies due to what I may have going on and if I'm in the mood to add some extra pazaaz! A general natural look - 20 minutes, evening look - 35 minutes, a formal over the top look - 45 minutes!
I took this picture of the products I use on a daily basis - yup, beauty definitely comes with a price! (Of course every day differs with color choice so some of these products may be replaced with another!)

Make-up is an amazing tool to change a face in so many ways - and with the method of "contouring" (using light a dark shades to create shadows and depth) it's the perfect path to give a person higher cheek bones, a thinner nose and a overall slender look.
I pulled a few images of Kim Kardashian to demonstrate this. She's a beautiful lady but with the image you can see the 3 stages of transformation to get her signature look.

1. Bare and with not a stich of make-up
2. In between the make-up process and fully contoured (especially under the cheekbones)
3. Camera Ready and looking gorgeous!

You can contour at home with a bronzer a few shades darker than your skin tone and swoop with a brush under your cheek bones and down the sides of your nose. after applying foundation. But use with caution as going to dark can cause you to look over done or bruised!

Rimell's new Mascara!

I'm a firm believer in a great mascara and have found that the department store brands ultimately work the best. I was therefore so excited when I picked up Rimmel's new MAX mascara (for around $6) and it worked! With a thicker brush, there was no clumping (I'll see if this occurs as the product is exposed to daily use) and my lashes were fuller within 2 strokes! Of course, the lashes in the adverts are only possible with falsies, but this is one mascara I'm delighted to expose as a personal great!

Though I stand by the amazing Kevyn Aucoin makeup editorials, I always read other makeup books as there is always something to learn!
The "Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual" was one of the few instructional books I can say was worth the purchase! It's GREAT for those just wanting to learn the basics and even us pro's can learn a thing or five from it!
The images and following descriptions were spot on and there are some great tips!
Selling at $32.00, it's a great investment for those wanting to learn in the comfort of their own home!
